Young Voices Rehearsals

On Thursday 2nd February, Fishergate Choir travelled to Manchester Arena to take part in Young Voices, the biggest choir concert in the world. When we first arrived the arena looked pretty empty and we were all amazed by the size of it! It soon filled with other schools and we spent the afternoon practising both songs and dance moves (including time to perfect our air guitar for the Rock Medley!). Andy from Urban Strides also kept us entertained with his humour and infectious enthusiasm for dance. We were all looking forward to the dance battle with our parents later in the evening! We stopped for tea, had time to chat with friends and even get a bit of fresh air as it was very hot and stuffy in the arena! We were all looking forward to the evening ahead…….

Homeward bound – and still singing!

We are on the coach and on our way, and some of the children are still singing! Our lovely driver says that we should be back on time at about 11pm. We will update you here if that changes!

All the staff are very proud of the Fishergate children who have shown exemplary behaviour and a great attitude all day.

Revised R.E. Syllabus for the City of York

Since September 2016 we have been following the City of York Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education 2016-2021, which requires that all pupils learn from Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Judaism as a minimum.  To help our School Governors understand what this means for pupils here at Fishergate, Mrs Spain gave a presentation in the Governor’s Meeting last week.  You can take a look at this below.

Forest school news!

Our forest school is really taking shape! The hugely popular hills have doubled in size and have been turfed and we have a brand new storage shed to house our resources.  Many thanks to our amazing team of dedicated and passionate parents who have given up so much time to help move the project forward – thankyou all!

Our children are thriving in our forest!
