Science at Fishergate allows us to…..

Our new science principles

At Fishergate, we really value the teaching and learning of science. Last term, all the staff and the pupils worked together to decide what made science good in our school and came up with six child friendly principles which we would like to share with you!

 

Lunar photography

One of our y5/6 pupils took this amazing photograph of the moon with their mum’s camera phone and the kind assistance (and very impressive telescope!) of one of the yorkastro members at the Stargazing Live Party earlier this month. You can click to enlarge the picture – what details can you spot?

First Aid Talk

On Monday Eric Leach from St John’s Ambulance visited our school. He gave a Key Stage 2 assembly about dangers and how to keep ourselves safe. He also spoke about what to do in an emergency. Afterwards he spoke to…

Time out for Parents-Children with additional needs course

‘The Befrey’ are running a course for parents who have children with additional needs. They will cover a range of topics including:

  • How to help your child to be happy and secure
  • Coping with your own feelings
  • Observing and Managing challenging behaviour

Any many other areas.

The sessions run for 2 hours 7.30p.m.-9.30 starting 2nd February for 6 weeks.

Parenting support

We all have times of anger and frustration and react in different ways. Imagine how confusing these emotions are for children! Well, the Family Matters group can help.

They are running a ‘Time out for Anger’ course over 4 sessions starting on 6th March. This course is FREE!
