Gymnastics finals success!

On the 29th June the Fishergate Year 1/2 and Year 3/4 teams represented the city of York in the North Yorkshire Games finals against the best gymnastic squads from around North Yorkshire. The teams had qualified for the finals by winning the York finals event in February and were competing against teams from Harrogate, Scarborough, Selby, Ryedale, Craven, Hambleton and Richmondshire.

The event was held at Catterick Leisure Centre, Catterick Garrison. Both of our teams performed fantastically well on the day, and they were a credit to the school for their effort, behaviour and sportsmanship.

The Year 1/2 team performed really well, with one last minute replacement and finished in 7th place against some very strong gymnastics squads.

The year 3/4 team competed fantastically well and were a tremendous success. Out of a very strong group of gymnasts they came……….. in bronze medal position!

Well done to everyone, we are so proud of all of you. Thanks to both the children and staff for all their hard work. A special thank you to Miss Heyes and Miss Deverall for getting the teams ready for competing.

On Friday 8th July all gymnasts will be receiving a certificate in celebration assembly to thank them for their hard work.
