We are delighted to have been awarded as a School of Sanctuary! 
Fishergate is the first school in York to become a School of Sanctuary, Feedback from the appraisal team described Fishergate as ‘truly exceptional’.
The award is a reflection of the efforts and commitment of the whole school community: pupils, staff, parents and governors and we are immensely proud of this achievement.

Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to those who took part. The standards were high this year and we were so impressed by the effort on display, the pumpkin scarecrow and KPop Demon hunters entries were terrific fun too! And the winners are…

Together, we raised £690.00! Big events like this build special school memories while helping to fund school projects, equipment and extra resources for our children.
We’ve reached the halfway point of the term! We hope you all have a refreshing break. There’s plenty more in the works, but for now, a heartfelt thank you to all families, teachers and staff! Your incredible support has made it possible for us to hold bake sales, uniform stalls, the Christmas design project, disco and pumpkin contest. What a busy time we’ve had!
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to our wonderful helpers. Without you our school events simply wouldn’t be possible. Our dedicated team at Friends of Fishergate works tirelessly behind the scenes and are the friendly faces you often see supporting our activities. To the parents who volunteer for face painting, washing cups for squash drinks, DJing, sharing classroom WhatsApp reminders, and much more, thank you again! I’ve had such a pawsome time walking with you along the river this week! The leaves are crunchy, the air smells amazing, and there are so many exciting things to see (and sniff!).
I love it when we walk together — you talk to me, walk so nicely, and you’re brilliant at being calm and kind.

The 31st October, which is the closing date for secondary school applications, is fast approaching! Have you remembered to complete and submit an application for your child’s secondary school place in September 2026?
Please note that applying early does not give any priority but to have the best chance of your application being successful, and getting a place at your choice of school, you should complete and submit your application by the deadline. Applications can still be made after this date, but may be looked at after other applications have been considered.

Bodhi has enjoyed having some company on his lunchtime walks and is looking forward to the arrival of a double handled lead so that the children can have a go at holding him alongside me (if they want to!) It is also a great chance for me to have a good chat with a few children at a time and to find out about what they have been getting up to.
He has also been working alongside two small groups of children on the field and amazing us all with his skills. The places where the children are hiding the ball for him to find are getting harder and harder but, with their help, he is doing brilliantly!
