Bodhi’s OPAL Challenge for the Children

Woof! I think I must be growing up because Mrs Clarke says I’m getting old enough to start coming to assembly again. I’m very excited to see everyone, although apparently I’m leaving quite a lot of black Labrador glitter (humans call it hair!) wherever I go. Sorry about that – I like to think it’s my way of making sure nobody forgets I’ve been there!

This half term I have set everyone an OPAL Challenge. I’d like all the children at Fishergate to:

🐾 Be kind to someone
🐾 Include someone in a game
🐾 Try something new at playtime

I’ve seen so many amazing things happening during OPAL playtimes already, and I know lots of you are brilliant at helping others join in. Sometimes trying something new can feel a bit scary (I know that feeling when I have to learn a new trick!), but that’s how we grow and learn. I’ll be keeping my eyes and floppy ears open to spot children taking on my challenge. I can’t wait to hear about the new games, friendships and adventures you have at playtime!Bodhi 🐾

A New Trick for a Young Dog!

Woof! I am feeling very proud of myself because during the half-term holiday I learnt a brand-new trick – rolling a dice! Sometimes I give it a gentle nudge with my nose and sometimes I use my paws. It took lots of practice (and a few tasty treats helped too!) but I kept trying and got better and better. I am very excited because soon I will be able to help the children play games by rolling the dice for them. I can’t wait to show off my new skill and be part of the fun. Until then, I’ll keep practising and making sure I don’t get distracted by squirrels, tennis balls or any snacks that might mysteriously appear nearby! Bodhi 🐾

People (and pups) Who Help Us

Woof!

I really loved it when the firefighters came to visit Early Years. I enjoyed seeing the big fire engine and learning about how firefighters help people. I was very impressed with all of the children too — they listened so carefully, asked brilliant questions, and showed fantastic behaviour. I think they were all superstars! Pawfectly exciting and fun!”

I hope that you all have a pawsome half term holiday. Lots of love from your school dogBodhi xx

A certificate for Bodhi – the perfect labrador for us!

Woof woof!

I had a very important weekend because I passed my latest training course for adolescent dogs! My humans said I did really well, and I was very proud of myself (especially because there were treats involved).

I practised staying still while Tina walked away from me — which is VERY hard when you love people as much as I do. I also worked on leaving tasty treats on the floor without gobbling them up straight away (possibly the hardest challenge ever), and I even managed to walk past other dogs without pulling on my lead to say hello.

I’m getting better every week, although Tina says I still need to keep practising some of these things. Apparently “perfectly behaved Labrador” takes time! 🐾Love from Bodhi
