FoF News – Summer Fair total, and recent spending news

Thank you to everyone who came and supported us!

Summer Fair success!

What a fantastic time we had! We are thrilled with everyone who stepped forward to run the BBQ, bar, and refreshment stalls – tasty food, nice brews and cocktails on the gusty, but otherwise sunny afternoon went down a treat! A big shoutout to those who cheered on the many lucky winners at their games and tombola stalls. A huge thanks to our star helpers who organised the successful raffle, those who ensured the children had a blast in the bouncy castle and to the amazing pupils who ran football games for the children. Whether you helped out during the fair, worked behind the scenes for a smooth set up, or made generous donations during the week, we can’t thank you all enough!

Together, we raised a fabulous £2,717.06. As we take the time to celebrate this massive achievement, we’re excited to start planning how we can use this money in the school. If you would like to get involved and share your thoughts, all parents and carers are warmly invited to join the Friends of Fishergate meetings. Roundup of Recent Spending

  • We paid in full for the Year 5/6 coaches to Bridlington for a day of fun in the sun, meaning there was no cost to the families for this trip.
  • Purchased story cubes to enhance imaginative play in Library Club
  • We hope all the children enjoyed their frozen treats after working so hard on Sports Day – free of cost! Thanks to generous donations from Sunny Days Cafe as well as a family at Fishergate School.

FoF Update 3/7/26

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Summer Fair.

When we pool our skills and resources together, we can make fabulous things happen!

Review of 2025-26 Bake Sales:

Each year, we invite each phase group to host a bake sale once every term. We’ve seen some absolutely stunning bakes and learned that children are keen to order fruit too! The Early Years bake sale on Monday was the final one for the school year, and it raised a decent £50.55, bringing our total for the year to £736.61.

Friends of Fishergate has rounded that up to an exciting £1,000! Each phase group has been given £250 to use as they choose, and the spending has really varied. One group invited a geology expert to enrich their learning, while another opted for maximum fun with a bouncy castle. Another group decided to enhance their arts and crafts offerings for reward time with enticing new supplies.

Whether you bake, buy or help run a stall, your support makes a big difference to the children’s experiences in school. Thank you for your amazing help this year! Friends of Fishergate

FoF News & Upcoming Dates!

We made it to the end of an intensely hot week and the start of next week looks set to bring much-needed relief along with quite a few events happening in our school. Here’s a rundown of what to expect, so you don’t miss out!
Coffee Morning
9:00am – 10:30am on Monday 29th June
Join us for a relaxed start to the week. A chance to chat, connect and enjoy a cuppa together. 
Cake Sale & Uniform Stall
3:15pm on Monday 29th June
Pick up a treat after school and browse our pre-loved uniform selection. Small change is much appreciated for the treats and all uniform items are free of cost.
Donations Day
8:30am on Thursday 2nd July
Bring your summer fair donations to the school’s lower hall and our team will be on hand to receive your items. We are grateful for items you can donate towards our raffle, and variety of tombolas (jam jars, teddies, sweets, bottles and general)
Summer Fair
12:00pm – 3:00pm on Saturday 4th July
Join us for family fun under the sun! We will have a bouncy castle in full swing, beat the goalie for aspiring football players, brilliant raffle prizes to be won and many games of chance & skill. We have brilliant chefs cooking up BBQ for lunch and the lovely Tom from Trig Brewery will be keeping the adults happy with refreshing, alcoholic drinks for sale.Friends of Fishergate

Have you bought your raffle tickets yet?

Families of Fishergate School: envelopes with raffle tickets for the summer fair should have come home with your children by now, so do keep an eye out in their bags. 🎟️ 👀

Each ticket is £1.00 and there are fantastic prizes to be won from a variety of family-friendly attractions in town, along with a selection of vouchers from our own lovely small business neighbours along the main road in Fulford! 🍫 ☕️ 🫖 🍰 🥂 🥡 🥪 🍦 🏊‍♂️ 📚

Here are all the ways you can buy raffle tickets for the Summer Fair:
➡️ Raffle tickets available for purchase are being sent home with every child, follow the instructions provided in the envelope
➡️ Pop into the school office and buy additional raffle tickets from the ace team there
➡️ Join us at the fair and buy tickets from the Raffle Stall on the day

Prizes will be announced towards the end of the fair, and winners will be contacted directly if not in attendance.

Pre-loved Uniform Stall

Families of Fishergate School: it’s time for another Pre-loved Uniform Stall!

Our children grow out of their clothes so quickly, that’s what makes sharing pre-loved uniforms such a great idea for busy families. Stop by our uniform stall at pick-up time in the school yard on Thursday 4 June (tomorrow!)

We have many pieces available, and they are sorted by age group to help you quickly find what you need. Items are free of cost, so please bring a bag and be sure to drop by. If you are in need of uniform labels, please visit the FoF fundraising hub for our recommended retailers and for promo codes that help to earn money for our school. FoF Update 27/3/26 – Quiz, Disco and Bake Sale News

Quiz Night Tickets

At 6:00pm on Tuesday 21st April, be ready for tasty food and drinks and to put your knowledge to the test, it’s the Fishergate School Family Quiz! The speed quiz is sure to bring about lots of laughs and good family fun. Tickets can be purchased with cash from the school office – £3.50 for Fishergate pupils and £7.00 for everyone else. This covers your meal and quiz entry. Tickets are likely to sell out. Can’t make it to the office this week? Get in touch at friendsoffishergateschool@gmail.com to reserve your tickets and make alternate payment.

Spring Disco Review

What a night! Together we raised a fabulous £550.42. A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who made this event possible. And special shout-outs to DJ Alisun, for knocking out cool tunes all night long, to Maria, for her gorgeous face painting skills and to Anwen, a former Fishergate pupil, who did sterling work on the door!

We hope you all had a lovely time at the disco, we certainly loved seeing so many happy faces rocking those bunny ears and sunnies!

Quiz tickets on sale now!

Fishergate School Quiz Night – 6:00pm on Tuesday 21st April 

We’re thrilled to invite families at Fishergate Primary School to a family-friendly speed quiz on Tuesday, 21st April. Children are welcome, so be sure to grab your tickets soon as this event is sure to sell out!

*Tickets go on sale today!*

Look out for our fabulous Tamsin who will be in the playground at pick-up time today (25/3/26) selling tickets, she accepts both card and cash payments.

Tickets are also sold in the school office, cash only please.

Price of ticket covers entry to the quiz and the meal, £3.50 for Fishergate pupils and £7.00 for all others.

Alcohol is sold at an additional cost. Many thanks to #trigbrewery for generously providing a keg of tasty beer for this event!Friends of Fishergate

FoF Update 20/3/26 – Spring Disco, Family Quiz and review of recent events

Spring Disco

Get ready to dance the night away this Friday! Entry is £2.00 per child and we will have pocket-friendly snacks, face painting, fabulous bunny-themed glasses, ears and more for purchase.

  • Early Years & KS1 Disco: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
  • KS2 Disco: 7:15pm – 8:15pm

** We will be accepting card payments at the door and cash only at the stalls inside.

Gather your team and save the date! We’re hosting a family-friendly quiz on Tuesday 21 April. Join in to test your knowledge and come hungry for the amazing pan-Asian buffet, cooked up by some of our talented parent home cooks at Fishergate Primary. All students are welcome to join in, tickets will be sold at £3.50 for Fishergate students and £7 for everyone else.

Bake sale review

Wow, what a fantastic event! The donated bakes were delicious and so many of our families visited the Early Years bake sale this week. A huge thank you to all who baked, volunteered and bought scrumptious treats from the sale!

Mother’s Day Stall review

A fantastic £130.95 was raised and we hope you enjoyed your daffodils and other gifts. The funds raised from this stall are all going towards our exciting goal of purchasing a Book Vending Machine, to inspire reading for pleasure among the children of FishergateFriends of Fishergate

FoF Update 13/3/26 – Mother’s Day stall and a call for help!

Mother’s Day Stall

All children are invited to shop for mums, grandmas and other special people at our stall, which will be set up in the playground after school this Friday 13th March. We’ll have lovely daffodil pots available for £2.00 each, plus a variety of card-making kits and badges created by an artistic mother-daughter duo from our school.

Just a little more help…

Our list of wonderful helpers is steadily growing for the Spring Disco on Friday 20th March, and we just need a few more roles filled. It’s heartwarming to see a Year 7 student kindly offering to return and assist with a stall! Get in touch at friendsoffishergateschool@gmail.com to lend a helping hand. Many thanks! – EY & KS1 families: can you help selling snacks or bunny-themed accessories? – KS2 families: your help is needed to run the snack stall and to sell tickets at the front door.

Bake sale on Monday
