Salvation Army Christmas Gift Appeal 2021

Every year the Salvation Army collect gifts for children and teenagers who receive very little at Christmas – and this year they need our help more than ever. Last year, they distributed toys and gifts to hundreds of children from York and the surrounding area – and our school donated over 100 toys towards this appeal.

If you would like to donate any new gifts, for children aged 0-17, please pass them to your child to bring into school between now and Thursday 9th December.

The Salvation Army will come and collect any donated gifts and give them to local children and teenagers who need them the most.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL GIFTS NEED TO BE NEW AND UNWRAPPED.

We do appreciate what a tough year this has again been for a lot of us, so any support for this charity appeal would be much appreciated. We do hope that you feel able to contribute a gift for this valuable cause.

Thank you

Strong with these runners the force is…

A huge thank you for all your support with this year’s Star Wars Marathon Day. All runners were amazing and ran their miles with Mrs Clarke throughout the day. Well done to Mrs Clarke for running all those miles and to Caz for joining her (at a social distance of course!) to run some miles as well.

Thank you for all your donations. The total raised for Mental Health UK stands at £1160! AMAZING!

Much appreciated, your support is….to next year here is!

May the fourth be with you….

On Tuesday 4th May the whole school will be taking part in a covid-safe marathon day to raise money for Mental Health UK. This charity provides mental health information, advice and support to people of all ages and it needs our fundraising support more than ever. A Fishergate staff family member, Mark Waters, is involved in raising money for this charity and has asked for our help.

All donations this year can be made via the Just Giving website:

Please donate what you can.

On 4th May all pupils can come into school dressed in running clothes and trainers- ready to run! During the day each class will join Mrs Clarke on the school field to run a mile with her. Each pupil will be awarded with a medal for their efforts.  Please note that this year the medals are a bit unusual- just remind your child to look on the back of the medal as well 🙂

Thank you so much for all your support. A slightly different marathon day this year…but at least we are running!

May the Fourth Marathon Day!

Star Wars: May the Fourth Be With You and FREE Comic Book Day ...We will be running our Star Wars marathon on May 4th!

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to do the usual taking 26 groups of children to run along the river. Instead the children will be running a mile around the field – I think it is 11 times around! They will all get a medal for their efforts and I am hoping that there will still be the marathon day buzz around school. This year we are raising money for Mental Health UK. More details will be sent closer to the time.

Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day

It’s Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day on Friday 19th March. Pupils can come into school dressed up in non-uniform or as a superhero 🙂 If pupils have PE or Forest Schools on this day then please send them to school with…

A huge thank you: Salvation Army Toy Appeal

The Salvation Army - Wikipedia

Thank you to everyone who donated a gift to our Salvation Army Toy Appeal. Your generosity in this tough year has been outstanding. We collected more gifts than we ever have before.

All gifts and toys have now been donated to the Salvation Army who will make sure that local children receive them in time for Christmas.

Thank you once again, your support is much appreciated.

OFriday 11th December we are inviting all pupils to take part in Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day.

The whole school will be taking part. You won’t need to splash out on a snazzy new sweater to join the fun-simply decorate an old woolly jumper or just come in something festive e.g. tinsel, a Christmas hat or come dressed up as Father Christmas- it’s up to you.

We’re asking pupils to make a £1 donation, or whatever they can give, to help save children’s lives across the world. THIS YEAR WE WOULD LIKE DONATIONS TO BE MADE VIA PARENT PAY.

If you would like more information about Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day, please see www.christmasjumperday.org

Thank you for your support.

Merry Christmas.
