We are so excited to share that Mrs Walton’s class have written letters to their new pen pals in the Sahrawi refugee camp in Algeria. We have teamed up with Sandblast Arts for this collaboration and all the children will gain so much from it.
The Sahrawi refugees are from Western Sahara and have been in exile for around 50 years. The children have never left the camp and are really excited to be connecting with our children. We will send videos about our school and everyday life and they will send a video back. We will also be creating some art to show them what life is like in York.
We are really pleased to be able to connect with these children and will share more about what we have found out in Refugee Week in June.
