Send My Friend to School: Friday 26th June

Send my friend to school 2

In 2000 world leaders met and set a target to get all children into school by 2015, lots of progress has been made but 58 million children are still out of school. In September leaders of the world, including our prime minister David Cameron, are meeting at the UN summit in New York. The Send My Friend to school global campaign aims to bring this injustice to the top of their agenda.

The school council have been researching this campaign over the past few weeks and we want Fishergate school to help world leaders see that they need to make sure that all children have an equal chance to a good education.

On Friday 26th June we are presenting a Key stage 1 and key stage 2 assembly to inform all children in school about this campaign. After this we are asking that all children imagine themselves as world leaders and think about what they would do to make things fair for all children across the world. In class we are all going to make world leaders, write our messages on them, and pass these on to our York Central MP Rachael Maskell.

Rachael has very kindly agreed to come into Fishergate on Friday 26th June to find out about this campaign and to pass our messages on to other MPs.

If you would like any further information please visit www.sendmyfriend.org.

Finally I would like to thank the school council for embracing this campaign and for working so hard to make Fishergate school a part of it.
