Extra Curricular Activities

Fishergate pupils are very fortunate in having access to such a range of extra-curricular activities; we are proud of the way their skills develop through these additional opportunities.

We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school and would not want any child to miss out on a club because of financial difficulty. If you qualify for free school meals, we may be able to help you with payment for clubs. Please pop in and see Mrs Clarke.

A letter regarding the clubs on offer over the summer term has been sent home in book bags. We ask that you go through the list with your child and select three clubs that they would like to attend. In the boxes down the right hand side, place your options using 1, 2 and 3. Some clubs are not open to everyone and are marked with an X. Please do not choose these.

Please return your selection to the class teacher (not the office, please) and we will then allocate places.

Please remember to write your child’s name and class on the form. If after allocating pupils any clubs have spare places, these can then be booked through the school office. If you are selecting a club that is a paid activity, payment should be made at the first session and consent forms completed. Please also remember that clubs occasionally have to be cancelled at short notice. When this happens, you will need to collect at 3.15, as normal.

Tiddler Times

newspaperTiddler Times is Fishergate’s school newspaper.  It is run on Wednesday lunchtimes by Lisa Solanki and Dani Rees and is written entirely by Key Stage Two pupils who are particularly skilled writers.  The newspaper team chooses their own focus for each edition.  To browse through past editions, please click here!

Maths Club

Maths Club is run weekly in the ICT suite by Miss Jordison for KS2 pupils who benefit from a bit of extra support with a fun approach. We have just started to use the exciting ‘Mathletics’ website, which the children are really enjoying and can access at home too.

Fishergate visits the Stadium of Light

image[15]On Saturday 10th of January 25 children, accompanied by their parents, boarded a coach and headed north for the Stadium of Light thanks to tickets kindly donated from Imphal Barracks.Braving freezing temperatures and gale force winds we huddled together in the Sunderland end of the stadium, clinging on to hot cups of tea! image[8]Amongst us were a few Liverpool fans who were sat very uneasily , aware that cheering for their team would not go down particularly well with the thousands of Sunderland fans they shared the stadium with. The cold was soon forgotten as the two teams kicked off, and when Liverpool managed to grab a scrappy goal there was jubilation amongst (some of) us! 20150110_132517We headed back to the coach after a great days football, being particularly thankful for the coaches heaters!

All the children made sure their parents behaved really well and everybody really enjoyed the experience! Many thanks to RSM John Stephenson for the opportunity.
