On the 3rd of July we had a French Enrichment Day.  All the children from year 1 to year 6 worked in mixed age groups and all of the staff, together with some brave parent volunteers, led a range of workshops and activities around the school.  Visitors were welcomed to the 'Café du Poisson' beautifully run by Ms Rees and staffed by willing waiters.  Customers could have 'un petit café', a croissant, 'une tartine' or even 'un gâteau'!

In Mr Carr's classroom the theme was money, money, money!  We re-enacted the story of 'La Chenille qui fait des Trous' and her transformation into a 'papillon' with Mrs Walton, and we sang plenty of songs with Miss Atkinson and Miss Goakes.  Boules and bocccia were the games 'du jour' with Mrs de Braekeleer in the playground - although we had to move to the hall when the weather got a bit less mediterranean towards lunchtime!.  In the ICT suite Miss Young taught us all about directions as we explored 'Petit Pont' , a virtual French town.

In Mrs Engelman's classroom the children worked to recreate a very famous picture by the french artist, Georges Seurat.  Nearly 160 children each used pastels to create one small section of the image, then Mrs Engleman (able assisted by Mrs Cole!) put the jigsaw puzzle together.

Do you recognise the picture?
