Fishergate Choir Carol Singing

At the end of term, Fishergate choir entertained the crowds in York city centre with their joyous Christmas singing! We spent an hour in St Helen’s Square singing many festive favourites including Jingle Bells, The Twelve Days of Christmas and Rockin Around the Christmas Tree. We raised over £250 for Friends of Fishergate which will go towards our coach for Young Voices. The choir will be taking part in Young Voices, the largest school concert in the world, in February at Manchester Arena.

Christmas Merriment at Willow House!

In the last week of term, children from Miss Teale and Mrs Ekers’ class visited Willow House as part of the Musical Connections project. They took part in a number of fun activities with the residents including snowball fights, singing and lots of festive, musical merriment! We also took part in our own Mannequin challenge which you can see here. Merry Christmas to all the staff and residents at Willow House, we look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.

Fishergate is Famous!

As you may already know, Y3/4 children in Miss Teale and Mrs Ekers’ class have a link with Willow House through the Musical Connections project. Every term we take part in a music workshop with residents from Willow House care home around a topic we are covering in school. This intergenerational work has shown to have real benefits for both children and residents.

Have you ever wondered how you can get a sneaky peak of what we do in our sessions? Well, now you can! This video features children from Fishergate and other York schools taking part in workshops and talks about the benefits for everybody involved in intergenerational work through the Musical Connections project.  We would love it if you took a look at our fantastic children in action!

Choir rehearsal times

music-note-300px

We are very busy at choir at the moment and need all the rehearsal time we can get for all our festive performances!  Choir will therefore run until 4.30 on Wednesday 30th November and Wednesday 7th December instead of the usual 4.15 finish.  Please note there will be NO choir on Wednesday 14th December due to Carols By Candlelight which starts at 6pm and all children will be expected to attend.

Many thanks,

Miss Teale
